Can you cover complementary treatments?

If your pet becomes ill, sometimes they may need treatment that's a little different, or might need a bit of extra help with their recovery.

That's why our policies can provide some cover for complementary treatments, which include: hydrotherapy, homeopathic and herbal medicines, acupuncture, physiotherapy, osteopathy and laser therapy.

Complementary treatments must be carried out by someone who is a member of the:

Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT),

Canine Hydrotherapy Association (CHA),

Institute of Registered Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapists (IRVAP),

International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT),

International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA),

McTimoney Chiropractic Association,

National Association of Registered Canine Hydrotherapists (NARCH)

Or, National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists (NAVP).

Nearly all of our pet insurance policies cover complementary treatments. To learn more, check out our sample policy documents and key facts guide.
